Ellsworth native and University of Rochester sophomore Kaela Springer made history Feb. 28.
Springer, who has parlayed a strong high school swimming and diving career into the college ranks, became the first diver in Rochester’s program’s history to win an NCAA regional diving championship.
Springer recorded a whopping 461.5 points, with a pair of stellar dives putting her over the top, to claim first place and earn a berth to the upcoming national championship competition in Indianapolis.
The national championships are scheduled for March 18-21.
